Problem Statement
Major Issue: Solving the Global Warming
Occurred by greenhouse gas emission
Approximately 79.7 percent of greenhouse gases consist of carbon dioxide (CO₂), which is mainly generated by fossil fuels.
Reducing CO₂ emission is necessary to solve the global warming
It is required to implement alternative energy of fossil fuels.
Composition of Greenhouse Gases
Structure of Enhanced Oil Recovery
One of the most representative sources for the carbon neutrality is renewable energy.
As the Figure above, by International Energy Agency's Report Renewables 2023, about 30 percent of electricity is already generated by renewable resources.
Despite the implementation and effectiveness of renewable energy, global warming is keep going on, so we have to figure out another technology which will be effective.
Starting at 1970s, carbon capture and storage (CCS) has been developed with enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project.
Since 2000, CCUS, where utilization is added in CCS, technology have become a new trend for the carbon neutrality and have been developed and researched for utilization.
Our method is using and reorganizing researched data and sources to explore CCUS technology and its effects.
We will explain the concept, trends and applications, challenges, and expect the result of CCUS technology's international implementation.
