At Stoney Education Authority, Outdoor Education is a multifaceted program that brings together teachers, staff, and community to integrate the land into everyday learning. Rooted in รethka Nakoda traditions and values, the program combines outdoor education and land-based learning so that students deepen their connection to the land, strengthen cultural understanding, and build confidence through hands-on experiences.ย
Teachers contribute by creating and sharing curriculum-connected lesson plans and by taking students outside to learn directly on the land. The Outdoor Education team delivers seasonal lessons, field experiences, and cultural programming in collaboration with Elders and Knowledge Keepers. Together, these efforts prepare students to safely engage with and care for the natural world, making outdoor and land-based learning a living and foundational part of education at SEA.
