A Message From Stoney Education Authority Superintendentย
Bill Shade
Our Outdoor Education and Land Based Learning programs continue to evolve in meeting the needs of our students.ย We are now offering two unique streams for our schools: Outdoor Education and Land Based Learning.ย Each stream will focus on specific goals and outcomes.ย Each will draw the specific expertise of teachers and local knowledge keepers that will benefit our students.
The course development reflects an integrated approach that addresses the uniqueness of Stoney Nakoda teachings for our schools.ย This, combined with Outdoor Learning, will offer a well rounded program for all Stoney Education Authority schools.
Elder & Knowledge Keeper Consultation
ย Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Stoney Nakoda Nation members are important stakeholders in education.ย Our team is in regular consultation with Stoney Nakoda Elders and Knowledge Keepers with representation across all three bands: Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.ย We meet regularly to gain direction on curriculum, programs and specific lessons.ย We want to acknowledge their support and guidance in the building of this program that will be embedded throughout the Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculums.
