If the customer calls in and wants to convert the custodial account to an individual account if the minor in their account is at a legal age (Depending on the state).
I have created a ticket with our account maintenance team so that they can convert your account as your individual account and they will follow up with you shortly regarding your request through email.
To convert the custodial account to an individual account, stockpile needs to suspend the custodial account first.
Then to create an individual account, a link will be provided by our account maintenance team.
Once the individual account is created, the account maintenance team will send an internal transfer form via PandaDoc that would need to be signed by the customer. This will allow Stockpile to transfer the assets from the custodial account to the new individual account.
IMPORTANT REMINDER:
Please be sure to check the state and age requirements list below before reaching out or advising the customer, as depending on the state, we cannot complete the request if the new adult does not meet the age requirements as per state UTMA regulations.
What is UTMA? It stands for Uniform Transfers to Minor Act, A legal framework that allows adults to transfer assets, including money, real estate and other property to minors without the need for a formal trust, managed by a custodian until the minor reaches adulthood.
