Mavericks,

Last night's storms affected both of our campuses.  Fortunately, there was limited water damage.  Unfortunately, the power went off and has not been restored. 

CPS has shared that some areas of San Antonio may be without power for several days.  We pray that power will be restored tomorrow.  If it is not, the campus will be closed and we will have distance learning on Monday.  I will share an update tomorrow in the late afternoon.  Thanks for all your patience and support, Mavs!

Las tormentas de anoche afectaron a nuestros dos campus. Afortunadamente, los daños por agua fueron limitados. Lamentablemente, se cortó la luz y aún no se ha restablecido.

CPS han informado que algunas zonas de San Antonio podrían permanecer sin luz durante varios días. Esperamos que el servicio eléctrico se restablezca por completo mañana. De no ser así, el campus permanecerá cerrado y tendremos clases a distancia el lunes. Les informaré de las novedades mañana por la tarde. ¡Gracias por su paciencia y apoyo, Mavs!

A reminder that Friday is a half day with no cafeteria service or afternoon shuttle. Students should be picked up between Noon and 12:30. There's after school care until 6 if needed.  

El viernes es medio día, sin cafetería ni transporte por la tarde. Deben ser recogidos entre 12 y 12:30.

A few items/reminders for the first day of school tomorrow!

Extended Arrival Time For First Day

Parents may come in on the first day of school to drop off their children at their classroom.

There will be an extended arrival time: until 8:30 at Primero/Clower campus, and until 8:45 at Segundo.

Dismissal will be at the regular times:

3:00-3:30 at Primero

3:30-3:45 at Segundo

Dismissal Location for Third and Fourth Grade

At Segundo, for those picking up their children who are in 3rd Grade, please park and walk to the 3rd Grade outer door closest to the cafeteria.  Your child will be brought out to you.  

For those picking up their children who are in 4th Grade, please form a carline on Audubon to pick up your child, who will be escorted out to your car.

If you have multiple children, with at least one in 5th-8th Grade and at least one in 3rd or 4th grade, you may use the regular carline that forms around the gated field on St. John’s Way to one-stop pick up your children.  

Uniform Clarifications

Some of you have had questions about uniforms and overall dress / appearance.  

First, let me say that this is a transition year to Flynn Uniforms, so we understand there may be some gray areas.  

Here are a few clarifications:

• Any previous year uniforms may be worn.  

• Flynn items, such as the blue button up/oxford shirt for girls and boys, may be worn.  

• Sweaters/hoodies sold by Tommy and the school/CYO may be worn.

• All Brainpower polos are allowed for mass.

• Non-SMMS outerwear may be worn outside, but inside school buildings, any such gear must be SMMS.  

• Navy, khaki and black bottoms have been previously sold by SMMS, so these are allowed this year.

We are working toward having Mass day uniform top as a Black Brainpower polo for all students.  We will begin selling these more and more as the year progresses.

Boys who have longer hair should have their hair pulled back and off the collar.

No jewelry this year, with the one exception of stud earrings for girls.  Watches may be worn, but must NOT have any internet connection, texting or other
“Smart” features.

Boys must be clean shaven.

¡Algunos puntos importantes para el primer día de clases mañana!

Horario de llegada extendido para el primer día Los padres pueden venir el primer día de clases para dejar a sus hijos en su salón de clases. Habrá un horario de llegada extendido: hasta las 8:30 en el campus Primero/Clower y hasta las 8:45 en Segundo. La salida será en el horario habitual: 3:00-3:30 en Primero 3:30-3:45 en Segundo.

Lugar de salida para tercer y cuarto grado

En Segundo, quienes recojan a sus hijos de tercer grado, por favor estacionen y caminen hasta la puerta exterior de tercer grado más cercana a la cafetería. Su hijo será acompañado hasta allí. Quienes recojan a sus hijos de cuarto grado, por favor formen una fila de autos en Audubon para recoger a su hijo, quien será acompañado hasta su auto. Si tiene varios hijos, con al menos uno en 5.º a 8.º grado y al menos uno en 3.º o 4.º grado, puede usar la fila de autos habitual que se forma alrededor del campo cercado en St. John's Way para recogerlos en un solo lugar.

Aclaraciones sobre el uniforme

Algunos de ustedes han tenido preguntas sobre los uniformes y la vestimenta/apariencia en general. Primero, permítanme decirles que este es un año de transición a los uniformes Flynn, por lo que entendemos que puede haber algunas dudas. Aquí hay algunas aclaraciones: Se pueden usar los uniformes de años anteriores. Se pueden usar prendas Flynn, como la camisa azul de botones/camisa Oxford para niñas y niños. Se pueden usar suéteres/sudaderas con capucha que venden Tommy y la escuela/CYO. Se permiten todos los postes Brainpower para la misa. Se puede usar ropa de abrigo que no sea SMMS afuera, pero dentro de los edificios escolares, cualquier prenda de este tipo debe ser SMMS. SMMS ya ha vendido pantalones de color azul marino, caqui y negro, por lo que están permitidos este año. Estamos trabajando para que la parte superior del uniforme del día de la misa sea un polo Black Brainpower para todos los estudiantes. Comenzaremos a venderlos cada vez más a medida que avance el año.

Los chicos con cabello largo deben llevarlo recogido y sin que les toque el cuello. Este año no se permite el uso de joyas, con la única excepción de pendientes pequeños para las chicas. Se pueden usar relojes, pero NO deben tener conexión a internet, mensajes de texto ni otras funciones inteligentes. Los chicos deben estar bien afeitados.
