Diagon Alley
Here are some of the children's brilliant Diagon Alley sketches using the skill and knowledge they've acquired during the topic. We look forward to sharing the finished pieces.
Perspective Drawing
In our first lesson, we began by examining the artwork 'Afternoon Sun, Lake Superior' by Canadian artist Lawren Harris. In the painting, we noticed how the foreground was larger and clearer, and the background was set higher in the picture and a little harder to see.
We discussed the effect this had on the painting and how the use of perspective drawing can create depth. Next, the children had a go for themselves. Firstly, they explored different shades and tones using one colour (monochromatic). Once they'd decided on the colour, they drew a series of trees in their sketch books.
