As part of our Rocks and Soils topic, we have been investigating the 'durability' of rocks. Our poor rock collection was certainly put through a rough time today... sandpaper... fork prodding... even dropping from a height.
All of which resulted in some of us also making our own sand...
SCIENCE DAY
The children had a fantastic time on Science Day - we built our own volcanoes and created a chemical reaction using vinegar and baking powder.
We are exploring magnets in our Forces topic this half term. We had lots of fun looking at what matreials are magnetic and which ones are.
We carried out an investigation about different surfaces can cause different levels of friction on toy cars. We conducted a fair test and could confidently talk about variables.
For our topic of Plants, we grew our own grass heads, The children loved planting the seeds and watching the 'hair' grow. It even became a bit competive at one point! The children ensured their plants received proper care and were keen to water them and give them plenty of sunshine.
