In our Stone Age topic we worked in teams to create information posters all about Must Farm, a Bronze Age farm that had a huge fire and was then abandoned - the people who lived here left so quickly, someone even dropped their porridge bowl with the spoon in. This was then preserved under layers of silt for years. It was only discovered in 2015!
VICTORIANS
Year 3 spent the day travelling back in time to the Victorian era. We visited Southwell Workhouse and were shown around by some very interesting and informative characters who told us all about what life was like for the inhabitants of the workhouse. The children were absolutely amazing and asked some fantastic questions and even managed to figure out what some of the more unusual objects were for... The chamber pot was a huge source of entertainment. We were complimented as a school for our impeccable behaviour too. What a wonderful day!
In our Egyptian topic, the children learnt about mummification and how seriously the Ancient Egyptians took death and the afterlife. We had a go at mummifying some of our class mates... I'm not sure we'd get the job if we were actually Egyptians.
