The children used salt dough to make Christmas decorations. They helped to make the mixture, roll out the dough and cut their chosen shape with a cookie cutter.

23.11.23 & 24.11.23 The children have enjoyed creating their own "feelings jars" after learning about them in PSHE.

21.11.23 Painting to Muic

What a lovely Art lesson we had today!

The children listened to some different pieces of music with their eyes closed and thought about how it made them feel.  Did it make them feel happy? Calm? Want to move?  Then they moved and danced to that piece of music.

The children then listened to a final piece of music and instead of dancing with their body, they danced with their paintbrush, moving it along the paper. They moved their paintbrush in lots of different ways, for example, long smooth strokes, short sharp dots, flicking, swirling, zig zags etc.

14.11.23 Outdoor Art

The children made their own paint today using mud! They investigated using different amounts of water to mix into the mud and effect this had on the paint.  They then painted with the mud paint on a variety of media (paper, brown paper, slates) using a variety of 'natural' paintbrushes. These inclused brushes made from pine cones, grass, feathers and twigs. We had so much fun!

24.10.23 DT - Worry Monsters

We read a story today called 'Ruby's Worry.'  We talked about what a worry was and how it could help to talk about a worry.  The children have then used the boxes they bought in to make their own worry monster.

We went to the music room today for the first time!  We explored how we can make vocal sounds ourselves and played pass the sound around the circle.

20.10.23

16.10.23 Self portraits with colour

We looked at some self portraits that had been painted by artists and noticed that some of them used realistic colours and some used unrealistic colours.  We the created our own self portraits and could choose the style in which we did them.

10.10.23 Self portraits

What a lovely art lesson we had today!  The children could remember that observing something means to look closely at it.  We looked closely at our faces, pointing out our features using mirrors.  We then had a go at drawing our faces on a whiteboard.

Then we had a picture of half our face and we had to complete the missing side.

3.10.23 Observational Drawings

In our Art lesson today we learnt that to observe something means to look very closely at it.  We looked carefully at a flower, spotting the different parts of it.  The children then used sketching pencils to draw their own picture of a flower. What fantastic artists we have!

2.10.23

The children have used natural materials to make a picture. They then used the I Pad to take a photo of their work themselves! Here is a selection of their pictures.

28.9.23 Myself!

In RE this week, we have been talking about ourselves and how special our names are. We made collage portraits!
