Lunches and clubs

Lunches, snacks and milk

Your child will be offered a fruit snack at break throughout their time in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. They may also bring their own if they wish.

The school lunch is a daily hot meal which includes a choice of meat or vegetarian dishes, a salad bar and a pudding/fruit. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in the UK are entitled to free school meals.

As a healthy school, we are very proud of our delicious school meals, which are cooked from fresh in our state of the art kitchen. They are nutritionally balanced, vitamin and mineral rich, appetising and varied. Every day, children can choose from a variety of options, including a fresh salad bar.

Children also have the option to bring packed lunches to school. We have a packed lunch policy below to guide parents and ensure that all packed lunches are healthy and nutritious. (Please note that we are a nut free school and that products known to contain nuts must not be used in packed lunches, for snacks or at cake sales.)

Please do inform the school, on the forms provided, of any dietary requirements and allergies. If your child needs an alternative menu, you will need to complete an additional form which can be obtained from the School Office.

“The dinner ladies are really kind and really nice. My best dinner is spaghetti and meatballs – it’s my favourite meal in the whole world” – Year 2 Pupil

Children are also entitled to a carton of milk until they turn five. We would ask you to register for this at https://www.coolmilk.com/parents/

You can continue to pay for this after your child’s fifth birthday via the website if you wish.

Clubs

We are very proud of our school breakfast club and we are currently looking at whether we will be able to run this club from September given the guidance regarding, "keeping groups separate (in ‘bubbles’)"

The club usually opens at 8am and when we have looked at the revised timings of the school day, for all year groups we will be able to see if we are able to run the club in a way that ensures pupils and staffs safety.

Reception children may participate in after school clubs, many of which are run by outside agencies, from the spring term by which time we hope that all clubs will be back up and running. Details of these clubs can be found on the school website and payment can be made via SCOPAY. Some clubs become full very quickly and we would advise you to try to book them on the day they are released in order to avoid disappointment.

Mortlake Hall usually runs an After School Club. The children are picked up from school and cared for until 6pm. Current circumstances may have affected this provision but details are available from Evelyn on 07951 930 010

SCOPay

We are a cash-free school and all payments and bookings for trips, clubs, uniform etc are made via our online portal SCOPay. Communications from the school such as letters will also be sent to your email address via SCOPay.

You will receive an email by Friday 10th July 2020 with login details.
