The Governors warmly welcome you to St Mary Magdalen's school. I would usually have the pleasure of meeting with you all in July, but in these times of global social distancing I welcome you via the virtual world.
You have purposefully chosen this Catholic Primary school for your child. We will honour that decision by working alongside you over these very special years to ensure your child grows in their love and knowledge of Jesus while receiving a rich offer in terms of curriculum and extra curricular provision.
Maybe your choice was influenced by the fact that our school has been placed in the top 250 primary schools in England for outstanding academic achievement, but this is just one reason you might have chosen St Mary Magdalen's school for your child. The factor that distinguishes us from our neighbouring schools is that we are educating your child within the loving arms of our unique Catholic community. Our location, removed as it is from congestion and traffic and level crossings, provides green outdoor learning areas in which your child can learn and play safely; a very important factor in our current global situation.
You have put your trust in our school and we will repay your trust. We look forward to forging a close relationship with you over the next 7 years. We want your child to be happy and to feel secure and by working with you, we can enable your child to achieve academically and encourage social and spiritual growth.
On a business point as a Catholic school, we have certain freedoms and privileges. For example, the freedom to admit our own pupils, and the freedom to appoint our own staff, but with this comes additional responsibility and as a Voluntary Aided school, we are liable for covering 10% of the costs we incur for improvements to the school.
I write to all parents at the start each academic year requesting a contribution towards these costs. So for your information, please expect this communication from the governors in September. Be reassured this is a voluntary contribution but without your gift, the governors would not be able to meet our financial liabilities.
The current suggested donation is £10 a month per family.
Thank you and we look forward very much to welcoming you and your child to our vibrant high achieving Catholic school community in September.
