Presidents of the Early Republic
This week, we continue our discussion of the early Republic, focusing on the adminstrations of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Specifically, will discuss events surrounding the XYZ Affair, Alien Enemies and Sedition Acts, creation of the first Navy during the Adams' adminstration. We will then look at the significance of the election of 1800, Marbury vs. Madison, and the Lousiana Purchase--- events that defined Thomas Jefferson's presidency.
