Math: During trimester three, we will be covering topics from chapters 10, 11, 12, and 13. Students will learn more about quadratic equations and functions, radicals and geometry connections, rational equations and functions, and probability and data analysis.
Class of 2025!
Religion: We have started Church History and are still in the early years. We are exploring how early decisions are still important to us, as Catholics, today.
2024-2025 School Theme - #FollowJesus
Using the virtue of prudence - "enables us to reason and act rightly in any given situation"
Science:
Hello 8th grade. Hope you are ready to kick of trimester 2 learning about rocks! We will be doing multiple labs making crystals, and looking into the rock cycle.
Social Studies:
Language Arts: 8th grade is currently doing an excellent job of preparing their Career Research projects and presentations. Resources for how to create bibliographies and in-text citations have been posted to the Google classroom. Students may use any of those sources to create their works cited pages. Students at this stage should have the bulk of the research done, and they should be in the process of creating an organized outline, and then draft their 5 paragraphs. Students may also begin their Google Slideshow presentations to be done during Catholic Schools Week. I am over the moon excited to see what information they present regarding their potential future careers. They have learned so much about not just how to create an end product, but how to engage in the proper research process which will be valuable as they move on to high school. I am very proud of the work they have been doing!
Literature: Students have completed their study on House on Mango Street. We are working on putting together our visual vignettes or paper quilting squares. They are looking really good! This class is so creative and artistic! As we prepare for our trip to the Shakespeare Theatre, we will briefly review some general theater terms as well as review the plot of a A Midsummer Night's Dream. I cannot wait to share this cultivating experience with 8th grade. After that we will begin to prepare for one of my favorite novels of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Keep a look out for information regarding this important unit coming up. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
