8/11 Newsletter

Good Afternoon St. Mary Catholic School Families,

We have lots of exciting things in store for this year! But what makes it even more special is that we celebrate the school’s 150th anniversary this year. We are thankful not only for those present in the school today, but all those who have contributed to the life and success of this school over the last 150 years since its opening by the Sisters of Saint Joseph on August 28, 1874. We ask for the intercessions of the Patroness of our school, the Blessed Virgin Mary, to keep us under her special protection, so that we may prove ourselves worthy of God’s continued blessings for many years to come.

In Christ,

Dr. Amy Summers

Regular Office Hours

Regular office hours (7:45 am - 3:45 pm) Monday through Friday will resume this week.

Office/School Closed on 8/19

The school will be closed on August 19 as all teachers and staff will be going to the Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for the day.

Meet and Greet

The back-to-school Meet and Greet will be held on Wednesday, August 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the school. We will have an envelope prepared for all families. You can pick this up in the courtyard (weather permitting) or in the gym if it is raining. Inside this envelope you will have all of the information that you will need to help start the school year off successfully, including classroom assignments and house assignments. Families are encouraged to go to the classrooms to meet the classroom teachers as well as walk through the school to see all of the exciting changes.  Please remember, teachers will have only been back a few days at that point, so classrooms will still be “under construction”.

The Cieto Lindo truck will be available for anyone who would like to purchase dinner  that evening and the Kona Ice truck will be available for a treat paid for by the school.  Families may eat at the outdoor picnic tables or in the cafeteria.

Used Uniforms

Used uniforms will be available for purchase at the Meet and Greet. Items may be purchased for $5 a piece and must be paid by cash or check.

Before and After Care

Please complete this survey if you know that your child will need before care or after care on a consistent basis for the 2024-2025 school year. Before care is available at 7:30 AM. After care begins at 3:15 and is available until 5:30. Before care is a flat rate of $4. After care is $8/hour prorated by the minute. This will help us plan accordingly.

Before and after care will be available beginning the first day of school.  Students attending before care will need to be dropped off at the Primary Door and signed in by an adult.  After care will be held on the second floor of the primary wing. Parents will pick up students via the Primary Door.

No Lunch for Purchase on First Day

All students must bring a lunch from home on 8/26.
