Track and field is a spring sport and a no cut program. The season begins approximately in mid April and continues through the end of May.

The junior varsity consists of 4th, 5^th and 6^th grade boys and girls. JV competes in the Northwest Catholic Conference (NWCC).

The varsity consists of 7^th and 8^th grade boys and girls. Varsity competes in the NWCC and the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA).

SMAA will consider sending 7^th and 8^th grade teams only to IESA state run meets. In the event that girl or boy varsity rosters are insufficient to compete in the IESA meets, junior varsity participants will be permitted to be moved up to compete.
