For the Hour of Code we did robots and binary ornaments which I will be telling you about both in this post. The robots we used were Dash and Sphero which are two robots that you can code. Dash is a robot with four wheels that can be controlled/coded. Sphero is a robot that is a sphere that moves by coding and controls. When we were coding Dash we were just playing around with him. We were seeing what we could do with him since it was our first time coding him. With Sphero we made obstacle courses and tried to code him to get to the end. Both of my teammates completed their course I think. I didn't get to try to code Sphero because we ran out of time. I don't think we worked well as a team because a member from our team coded Sphero mostly the whole time.
Now I am going to talk about my binary ornament. Binary is how the computer store or reads stuff using 1's and 0's. We all made one but everyone's ornament was different. This is because everyone did there first, middle and last initial. We had three colors of beads that meant three different things. We had green, red, and white beads and a pipe cleaner to make our ornament. One color meant 0, another meant 1, and the last one was for a space. My first name in binary is 01001010 01101111 01110011 01101000 01110101 01100001. I enjoyed this activity because is was interesting learning how to do binary.
