GRADING:
Students at Saint Martha's Catholic School will learn Spanish from PreK3- 8th grade. Our goal is to have students be capable of testing out of Spanish I and entering into Spanish II as freshmen in high school. A large part of the Spanish class is oral participation including activities such as singing songs, participating in a conversation in Spanish, and asking and answering questions in Spanish with their peers. Students are graded on their participation in class and they will also be assessed on their proficiency. Students’ knowledge of Spanish vocabulary and Hispanic culture will be measured through various assessments including class work, oral quizzes, quizzes/tests, group work, projects and peer work. For every assignment that is below an S, they need to correct every answer they missed, have it signed by a parent, and return it to me. If it is a Spelling Test in Spanish and they miss any words they need to copy the words 3 times each.
The Grading Scale for 1st - 5th grade Spanish is 100-93=E, 92-77=S, 76-70=N, 60=U.
Middle School Spanish is 100-93=A, 92-85=B, 84-77=C, 76-70=D, 69-0=F
HOMEWORK:
Students will sometimes have homework in Spanish class. Usually if an assignment is not completed in class it will be homework. Throughout the year there maybe a handful of work which is to be completed at home. Usually this occurs when the students are working on a project. However, students are encouraged to practice their Spanish vocabulary, and pronunciation at home. Both parents and students may visit my website for content and helpful links which relate to what the students are learning in school. If an assignment is late I will take 10 points off per Class Period that it's late. Middle school student follow same as their other middle school classes.

I will communicate with parents about upcoming projects by posting updates on my website and sending reminders through flocknotes. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about a project or other assignment.
Tests/Quizzes:

For every Tests/Quizzes that is below an S, they need to correct every answer they missed, have it signed by a parent, and return it to me. If it is a Spelling Test in Spanish and they miss any words they need to copy the words 3 times each. Tests/Quizzes are usually every 4 weeks unless the material is not covered. It will be written on the board, in their planners, sent through flocknotes and posted on my website.
