Hello! My name is Laurie Balderson, and I’m thrilled to be starting my twelfth year at St. Mark. Originally from Upstate New York, I moved to Virginia to escape the harsh Northern winters and pursue my passion for teaching. I hold a degree in education from the SUNY system and pursued an advanced degree in library science from Old Dominion University.
My husband and I have one son, James, who is an SMCS graduate and is currently studying biology with the goal of becoming an ophthalmologist. Our family also includes three lovable and quirky rescue dogs who keep us on our toes.
When I'm not busy with school, you can find me crafting in my "she-shed," diving into a good book, or exploring historical sites, as I’m an unabashed history enthusiast. I’m looking forward to another exciting year at St. Mark!
