Copy: Duplication of data: This is the most common meaning of "copy" in computing. It refers to creating an exact replica of a piece of data, such as a text file, image, or program. When you copy something, the original remains unchanged, while a new, identical copy is created in another location.Â
Paste: a commonly used function in computing that allows you to place data into your computer's clipboard and then insert it elsewhere. This simple, yet essential, feature is often used with the 'cut' or 'copy' functions.
Clipboard: a temporary storage area for data that the user wants to copy from one place to another. In a word processor application, for example, the user might want to cut text from one part of a document and paste it in another part of the document or somewhere else.
Link: a digital reference to data that the user can follow or be guided to by clicking or tapping. A hyperlink points to a whole document or to a specific element within a document. Hypertext is text with hyperlinks. The text that is linked from is known as anchor text.
