TEST ON Wednesday, October 29th
Students will learn how to subtract mentally as well as estimate differences. PLEASE CONTINUE rounding practice as they will be using their rounding skills for estimation in this chapter as well. Will will work up to four digit subtraction and subtraction across zeroes. This is a difficult skill so please practice regrouping when there is more than one zero!!
CONTINUE TO PRACTICE ROUNDING. STUDENTS USE THIS IN EVERY CHAPTER.
Rounding rules to use: pg 33 in book
1. Circle the digit to be rounded.
2. Look at the digit to the RIGHT of the circled digit.
3. If the digit to the right of the circled digit is 5 or greater, add 1 to the circled digit. If it is 4 or less, DO NOT change the circled digit.
4. Replace all the digits after the circled digit with a 0.
5. Any digit before the circled digit remain the same.
Math Homework
Math homework is assigned every evening except Friday. (Unless there is a test, check my progress, or a chapter review.) Students are responsible to have their homework completed each day for us to review. Some assignments are graded on a credit/no credit bases. Others are collected and graded by me to ensure understanding. I do not tell them in advance which papers I will be collecting for a grade.
