Math: Chapter 1: Number Sense: Students will practice how to read, write, compare and order multi digit numbers. We will explore patterns with skip counting and intervals. We will also focus on rounding to nearest ten and hundreds. Learning will be guided by particular emphasis on following key skills and concepts: Identify place value for each digit and use of expanded notation to represent numbers.
Problem Solving will focus on using the 4 step process.
Essential Question: How is learning at school different from learning at home?
Comprehension Skills and Strategies: Story Structure and Summarize
Vocabulary Strategies: Context Clues
Grammar: Simple Sentences
Journal Writing: Evidence supports the fact that journal writing will help your children to develop their skills of explanation, to improve their writing and to solve problems in interesting ways. As the students write, they’ll learn things about themselves they never knew before and become fascinated by the way the words and ideas come together on paper.
Social Studies: What makes a good community? In our Social Studies Text and through video we will meet Casey from Arizona. He will introduce us to the three different types of communities’ people live in. We will discuss what we think is important to have in a community. We are providing experiences to study the interactions among individuals, groups and institutions.
