The Office of Scholarly Engagement is St. Kate's hub for engaged learning, fostering opportunities for student-faculty mentorship, collaboration, professional skill development, and leadership through co-curricular, curricular, and community-engagement. Three of OSE's five programs provide students and faculty with opportunities to collaborate with and participate in Welcoming the Dear Neighbor? efforts through engaged-learning activities.
Antonian Honors is a cohort-based program for academically motivated students. Students take a series of four interdisciplinary honors seminars and complete a Senior Honors project on a topic of interest at the end of the program. Past Honors students have completed projects which emphasize the impact of racial covenants on housing and homeowner disparities.
Collaborative Research supports student engagement in research and creative work through extra-curricular and course-based opportunities. Collaborative Research's most popular program, Summer Scholars, provides a 10-week intensive program for student and faculty teams to complete research and present findings to the St. Kate's community and national audiences. Since the program's 2020 session, 10 student and faculty teams have completed projects that build on the Welcoming the Dear Neighbor? project.
Assistantship Mentoring Program: Through AMP, students apply to be a research, program, or teaching assistant with a faculty member to gain professional skills in an area of interest. Through AMP, students have partnered with faculty members as project and research assistance on WTDN-aligned projects.
Community-Engaged Learning: Through Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) courses, students participate in real-world learning opportunities with community partners within their course curriculum. From Fall 2017 to Spring 2024, over 90 CEL courses have collaborated with the Welcoming the Dear Neighbor? project, allowing over 1,500 St. Kate's students to participate in the project efforts through their courses.
