Our communities rely on the work of nonprofit organizations to make a positive impact in addressing a wide range of social issues and improving people’s lives. From small startup nonprofits to well-established ones, nonprofit leaders face a unique challenge in leading their organizations to create impact while ensuring financial sustainability for the future. Strategic planning can be a valuable tool for nonprofit leaders in facing this challenge.
So, how can strategic planning be effectively utilized in nonprofit organizations? Through flexible and adaptable processes, community engagement, and financially-informed tools, nonprofit leaders can gain a better understanding of their environment and develop strategic goals to position their organizations for enhanced impact. In addition, some nonprofits are strategically adopting co-leadership models to address various pressures, and as a result increasing their organizational effectiveness and well-being.
In this presentation, I share highlights from my hands-on experience working on strategic planning projects alongside consultants at a local nonprofit intermediary.
