The MIPS Peer Mentoring Program (PMP) is a peer-to-peer model designed to facilitate the successful transition and retention of incoming first-year and transfer students of color. The Peer Mentor Program aims to create and nurture community for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and support you academically and emotionally during your social transition as a first year at St. Kate's.
Students with a MIPS peer mentor return and graduate at a significantly higher rate than students without a MIPS peer mentor.
Our mentees often take on significant student leadership roles on the Senate and LEAD team, and as orientation leaders, resident advisors, and more.
For the past 12 years, students of color mentored by MIPS staff have won St. Kate's top academic and leadership award.
