As a DEIS school we promote a continuous cycle of reflective practice through our school self-evaluation process. School self-evaluation empowers a school community to identify and affirm good practice, and to identify and take action on areas that merit improvement. School self-evaluation is primarily about schools taking ownership of their own development and improvement.
Our school's DEIS plan is set out in 8 key categories: Literacy, Numeracy, Attendance, Retention, Transitions, Attainment, Links with Parents, and Links with the Community. Our Digital Learning Team works to establish how to embed our Digital Learning Plan into our active DEIS Plan.
To embed our Digital Learning Plan in our DEIS strategy we have focused on the Areas from SELFIE

Digital Learning Plan Document for DEIS Planning
This is the main planning document and is edited regularly by the Board of Management. It documents the aims & objectives, the short term & long term goals, and the research-based interventions of the Digital Learning Team, the Senior Management Team and the Board of Management of our school.
Staff & Student Surveys
Staff and students were surveyed on digital technology in the classroom and on iPad usage. These surveys ascertained our baseline data on how students are using their iPads to store, create and collaborate. They also depicted a proven increase in uptake among teachers since the interventions of Spring 2022.
We also completed an Initial Digital Technology Audit February 2022. This data was used as a starting point for a period of sustained School Self Evaluation. The initial members of the Digital Learning Team were formed and a targeted approach was set out.
Long Term School Self-Evaluation Surveys
The SELFIE evaluation tool, an initiative by the European Commission, aids schools in assessing their technology integration. It fosters digital literacy, refines teaching practices, and tailors professional development. By gauging technology's impact, it refines resource allocation, aligns with educational goals, and informs data-driven decisions. It also enhances student engagement, strengthens parent and community involvement, and prepares students for the digital future. This tool promotes accountability and demonstrates a commitment to evolving educational practices in the digital age.
