Region - an area of land with shared characteristics (at least one feature in common).

Examples: 

1. Political regions: defined, man-made boundaries

2. Physical regions: landforms & climate with natural boundaries

coastal plain- low, flat land that runs along a coast

basin- a bowl-shaped platform that is lower than the surrounding land

global grid- a grid formed by crisscrossing lines of latitude and longitude on a map

lines of latitude- "latitude flat-itude" 

Imaginary lines that run East and West around the globe; also called a parallel

lines of longitude- "longitude is long" I
