Idealizing communism has become a trend these days. Many people worship communism and praise communist dictators without knowing the dark truth. Therefore, the research that I conducted concerning this problem tries to shine light on these important issues. There are numerous countries living under communism today such as Cuba, China, and North Korea. Communism is not an “utopia,” an imaginary place where everything is perfect. Instead, it is a dystopia. When regular people work hard in the communist state, the party leaders ride in big cars and eat gourmet food such as red caviar. And if a person doesn’t want to be a communist party member, he or she may loose their job. The paycheck is so small that it’s ludicrous: a professional engineer makes around $200 per month. Therefore, you may wonder if is it even worth going to work every day six days a week while the party leaders sit in their offices and do nothing but make orders? In conclusion, we all need to research more about communism and its effects on society instead of following trends like this. If we do not do this, we will forever remain uninformed and unaware. Spanish philosopher George Santayana once said, “Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
