The following criteria has been updated with the new badge application form to be used from 1 January 2026.

The Leadership Badge is awarded to cadets who successfully complete the Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course (BNCOC), conducted annually by the five districts.

As part of BNCOC, cadets undergo the Leadership Styles module, which introduces key leadership concepts essential for effective non-commissioned officers. The module focuses on developing self-aware, adaptable leaders who can lead and work effectively within diverse teams and situations.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programmes, cadets will be able to:

Understand and appreciate different leadership styles and their relevance across various scenarios and circumstances.
Identify their own leadership style, values, and motivations to build self-awareness.
Reflect on personal leadership behaviours to support continuous learning and improvement.
Recognise key traits and characteristics associated with distinctive leadership styles.
Evaluate the advantages and limitations of different leadership styles and their impact on team effectiveness.
Identify core dispositions and qualities common to effective leaders, regardless of leadership style.
Apply leadership knowledge in practice, adapting leadership approaches when working with or leading teams, both as a leader and as a team member.

Supporting Documents for Badge Applications

Respective districts are responsible for applying the Leadership badge for cadets who have passed the programme. No action is required from schools

Either of the following supporting artefacts are accepted.

The signed CPB-LDR (2026 Version) application form. Click here for the template.
Signed BNCOC certificates of all the respective cadets who have passed the programme.
