D.M.I.C. GROUP TASK THURSDAY 9 MARCH 2023
Today for maths, we worked in our D.M.I.C. (Developing Mathematical Inquiry Communities) groups. We discussed the problem as a class, identifying what the story was about and what it was asking us to find out. In our small groups, they had to discuss how they could solve the problem and what strategies they could use. Working out the problem, the group had to make sure everyone was participating and understood their strategy. We came back as a class and had a couple of groups shared their strategies and how they solved the problem, by justifying and explaining what they did and why with the rest of the class listening and asking questions to better understand the different ways to solve the problem.
The learning idea (the connect) we looked at was there is many ways that this problem could be solved and the "inverse relationship" between addition and subtraction eg. 3789 + ? = 5432 and 5432 - 3789 = ?
