Week of November 17th

Lessons:  This week students will finish the Unit 2 review and complete the unit test on Tuesday. We will begin Unit 3, Practice Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers later this week, beginning with Division by 2-Digit Divisors using Long Division. 

Important Announcement:

Lesson Checks/Graded Assignments:   Students should expect to have Lesson Checks (quizzes, formerly called Exit Tickets) or graded assignments as we complete each lesson. A Lesson Check on Lesson 3.1 is tentatively planned for Friday, November 21st.

Unit 2 Test:  Update: Planned for Tuesday, November 18th

Timed Multiplication Quiz:  Friday, November 21st (10 and 11 Facts)

Online Math Resources:

XTraMath: This is an online website to help students with their math fact fluency. A parent letter was given to the students with information on how to access accounts from home.  This site begins with addition facts, then subtraction, next multiplication, and then division facts.

iXL Skills:  iXL is a great resource that we use in the classroom, and it can be used at home as well.  I have starred many of the skills that we have learned in class.  In addition, each student has a personalized MAP Growth Plan on iXL.  This plan is tailored with specific skills for each student's learning needs.

Week of November 10th

Lessons:  This week students will finish Unit 2, Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers. They will complete Lesson 2.4, Estimating Quotients. A unit 2 test is planned for Thursday.

Important Announcement:

Exit Tickets/Graded Assignments:   Students should expect to have Exit Tickets (quizzes) or graded assignments as we complete each lesson. An Exit Ticket on Lesson 2.4 is planned for Wednesday, November 12th.

iXL Skills:  iXL is a great resource that we use in the classroom, and it can be used at home as well.  I have starred many of the skills that we have learned in class.  In addition, each student has a personalized MAP Growth Plan on iXL.  This plan is tailored with specific skills for each student's learning needs.

Week of November 3rd

Lessons:  This week students will continue in Unit 2, Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers. Students will finish Lesson 2.3, Division with Partial Quotients and begin Lesson 2.4 Estimating Quotients. A unit test is planned for early next week.

Multiplication Fluency - Students will continue to practice multiplication fluency. This week they will focus on 8's multiplication facts.  The students will have worksheets to help them study these multiplication facts.  A timed multiplication facts quiz on 8's is on Friday, October 24th.

Lessons:  This week students will continue in Unit 2, Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers. They will finish with lesson 2.1 Multiply Multi-Digit Numbers. An exit ticket is planned for Tuesday.  Students will then work in lessons 2.2 and 2.3 Division with 2-digit Divisors and Partial Quotients.

Multiplication Fluency - Students will continue to practice multiplication fluency. This week they will focus on multiplication facts of 7.  The students will have worksheets to help them study these multiplication facts.  A timed multiplication facts quiz on 7's is on Friday, October 17th.

Lesson:  This week students will work in Unit 2, Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers. They will continue with lesson 2.1 Multiply Multi-Digit Numbers and 2.2 Division with 2-digit Divisors.

Multiplication Fluency - Students will continue to practice multiplication fluency. This week they will focus on multiplication facts of 6.  The students will have worksheets to help them study these multiplication facts.  A timed multiplication facts quiz on 6's is on Friday, October 10th.  The students now have access to XtraMath, an online website to help them with their math fact fluency. A parent letter was sent home with information on how to access accounts at home.

Week of September 29th

Lesson:  This week students will take their Unit 1 test on Monday.  Then they will begin Unit 2, Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers, starting with lesson 2.1 Multiply Multi-Digit Numbers and 2.2 Division with 2-digit Divisors.

Multiplication Fluency - Students will also continue to practice multiplication fluency. This week we will focus on 5's and 10's.  The students will have worksheets to help them study these multiplication facts.  A timed multiplication facts quiz on 5's and 10's is on Thursday, October 2nd.  

MAP Testing: Students will have MAP testing on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. Please be sure that your child has a good night's sleep and nutritious breakfast prior to testing.

Unit 1 Test UPDATE:  New Test Date - Monday, September 29th

Week of September 22nd

Lesson:  This week students will finish the unit on place value concepts. They will work on lesson 1.4 Powers of Ten and Exponents and lesson 1.5 Multiplication Patterns.  A unit test is scheduled for Friday, September 26th.

Multiplication Facts:  Students will practice their 4's multiplication facts and complete a timed quiz on Thursday, September 25th.

Week of September 15th

Lesson:  Students will continue to work on place value concepts. This week they will work with multiplication properties, powers of ten and exponents.

Multiplication Facts:  Students will practice their 2's and 3's multiplication facts and complete a timed quiz on Thursday, September 18th.

Important Announcement:

Exit Tickets:   Students should expect to have Exit Tickets (quizzes) as we complete each lesson. An Exit Ticket on Lesson 1.3 is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th.

Week of September 8th

Lesson:  Students will continue to work on place value.  This week we will continue place value relationships and patterns and learn to read and write multi-digit numbers. An Exit Ticket on Lesson 1.1 is planned for Tuesday.
