Week of October 27th
Lesson: Student will continue in Chapter 2, Understanding Multiplication. Our focus this week is lesson 2.6, Understand the Commutative Property of Multiplication, as well as work on Halloween math assignments.
Important Announcement:
Exit Tickets/Graded Assignments: Students should expect to have Exit Tickets (quizzes) or graded assignments as we complete each lesson.
Online Resources:
XTraMath: This is an online website to help students with their math fact fluency. A parent letter was given to the students with information on how to access accounts from home. This site begins with addition facts, then subtraction, next multiplication, and then division facts.
iXL Skills: iXL is a great resource that we use in the classroom, and it can be used at home as well. I have starred many of the skills that we have learned in class. In addition, each student has a personalized MAP Growth Plan on iXL. This plan is tailored with specific skills for each student's learning needs.
Week of October 20th
Lesson: Student will continue in Chapter 2, Understanding Multiplication. Our focus this week are lessons 2.3 and 2.4, representing multiplication with number lines and bar models.

Lesson: We will begin Chapter 2, Understanding Multiplication. The first lessons to be covered this week are counting equal groups and relating addition and multiplication.

Week of October 6th
Lesson: Students will work in the last lesson of Unit 1; Subtraction Strategies, Lesson 1.7. We will review all the lessons and a unit test is scheduled for Thursday.

Unit Test UPDATE: A test on Unit 1 is planned for Friday, October 10th (new date).
Week of September 29th
Lesson: Students will continue to learn strategies to add and subtract numbers. This week they will work in Lesson 1.6 Estimate Differences and Lesson 1.7 Subtraction Strategies.
MAP Testing: Students will have MAP testing on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. Please be sure that your child has a good night's sleep and nutritious breakfast prior to testing.

Unit Test: We are approaching the end of Unit 1. A test on Unit 1 is planned for the middle to end of next week.
Week of September 22nd
Lesson: Students will continue to learn strategies to add and subtract numbers. This weeks focus is on Lesson 1.4 Strategies for Addition, Lesson 1.5 Properties to Add, and Lesson 1.6 Estimate Differences.

Exit Tickets: Students should expect to have Exit Tickets (quizzes) as we complete each lesson. An Exit Ticket for Lesson 1.4 is scheduled for Tuesday, September 23rd
Week of September 15th
Lesson: Students will work on strategies to add numbers, including estimating by using rounding and compatible numbers in lessons 1.3 and 1.4.

Exit Tickets: Students should expect to have Exit Tickets (quizzes) as we complete each lesson. An Exit Ticket on Lesson 1.3 is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th.
Week of September 8th
Lesson: Students will continue to work on strategies to add numbers, including rounding and estimating. An Exit Ticket on Lesson 1.1 which includes the Identity Property of Addition, Commutative Property of Addition, and Even and Odd Numbers is planned for Tuesday.

Exit Tickets: Students should expect to have Exit Tickets (quizzes) as we complete each lesson. An Exit Ticket on Lesson 1.1 is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9th.
Textbooks: Please cover your child's math textbook, as this is a consumable book and may tear easily if left uncovered.
