In Second grade, we will be working on phonological awareness, phonemic awareness and alphabetic principle, sound mastery, letter formation, phonics, vocabulary, high frequency 'trick' words, fluency, comprehension, spelling, and punctuation and capitalization.
We will meet daily during the 2nd grade reading block.
Homework:
Week of October 26, 2026- We will review reading and writing words with digraphs, blends, and glued sounds. We will read and write words with the wh and ph digraphs. We will read passages accurately and fluently. We will show that we understand what we have read. We will write sentences with capital letters, spacing, punctuation, and understanding. We will answer questions about the story. Spelling words: graph, when, what, while, why, where, phone, sphere, photo, which
Heart words: from, are, look, book, are, was, you, what, have, said, goes, says, she, we, they, their, were, talk, walk, could, should, would
Homework (every week)- Read for 10 minutes.
Monday: Packet due Friday. Spelling test on Friday.

Wednesday: Packet due Friday. Spelling test on Friday.
