In Second grade, we will be working on phonological awareness, phonemic awareness and alphabetic principle, sound mastery, letter formation, phonics, vocabulary, high frequency 'trick' words, fluency, comprehension, spelling, and punctuation and capitalization.
We will meet daily during the 2nd grade reading block.
Homework:
Week of January 12, 2025- We will continue reading and writing multisyllabic words. We will review the syllable types (closed, closed exception, open, silent e, r controlled vowel, and vowel team). We will read a passage called Hopscotch with accuracy and expression. We will answer questions about the story. We will finish our comprehension packet on Merry Christmas Amelia Bedelia! No Spelling due to MAP testing.
Trick words: both, full, pull, shall, talk, walk, done, goes, pretty, again, please, animal, sure, use, used, knew, know, against.
Homework (every week)- Read for 10 minutes.
