In First Grade, we will be focusing on phonological awareness, phonemic awareness and alphabetic principle, sound mastery, letter formation, phonics, vocabulary, high frequency 'trick words', reading fluency, comprehension, spelling, and punctuation and capitalization.
We will meet daily the 1st grade reading block.
Homework
Week of April 13, 2026: We will continue to practice glued sounds- ang, ing, ong, ung, ank, ink, onk, unk. We will read a spell words with these glued sounds along with digraphs, blends, and suffix 's'. Spelling words: tank, link, honk, dunk, sank, wink, bonk, sunk, thank, chunk.
Trick words (Heart words): I, a, and, the, said, is, as, do, to, has, his, of, see, he, me, we, be, she, from, into, why, what, where, there, they, who, you, your, was, one, here, would, put, two.
Homework (Every week): Read to you child for 15 minutes.
Monday: 1-2 Choice board activities. Home support worksheet due Friday.
Tuesday: 1-2 Choice board activities. Home support worksheet due Friday.
Wednesday: 1-2 Choice board activities. Home support worksheet due Friday.
