In First Grade, we will be focusing on phonological awareness, phonemic awareness and alphabetic principle, sound mastery, letter formation, phonics, vocabulary, high frequency 'trick words', reading fluency, comprehension, spelling, and punctuation and capitalization.
We will meet daily the 1st grade reading block.
Homework
Week of October 26, 2026: We will continue to practice letter sounds. We will blend letter sounds to read CVC words. We will read and write heart words automatically. We will read and write words with the short 'e'. We will write sentences with correct capitalization, spelling, spacing, and punctuation. Spelling words: leg, beg, men, hen, let, get, ten, bed, pen, web
Heart words: I, a, is, the, and, as, said, to, do, see, me, be
Homework (Every week): Read to you child for 15 minutes.
Monday: 1-2 Choice board activities. Work on Home practice worksheet due Thursday. Spelling Test on Thursday.
