They say "3 is the magic number", this time in bowling. The Saint Joseph Falcons win another GMC championship against rival Woodbridge, their third in 4 years. Will Cunningham '26 led the high series for the Falcons with a 773, followed by Kai Strothers '26 with a 689, Ethan Brucato '28 with a 649, and Joseph Lamoreaux '27 with a 623.
Saint Joe's took the season series over the Woodbridge Barrons 2-1 with the victory, capping off an amazing season of conference play. Ethan Brucato '28 was on fire previously to this match, with a two-game high series of 515 and 463 in his last two matches against Sayreville and Old Bridge.
Woodbridge took the first game, but the Falcons stayed resilient, fighting until the very end, winning two games in a row to bring the GMC championship back to Metuchen, avenging their loss to Woodbridge this year.
However, the Falcons' season is nowhere near over. The Falcons prepare for the state sectionals on February 12, going head-to-head against top teams in the state, trying to win their 10th straight sectional title in a row since coach Rusty Thomsen took over in 2015.

Saint Joseph’s Kai Strothers ‘26 is known for being the top Bowler in New Jersey. Known for his skills and strong work ethic. His dedication to bowling has raised him to the top of the leaderboard and earned him recognition as the best bowler at Saint Joseph High School. Around the lanes, many people know him by his nickname and Instagram profile, Little Lefty, a name that fits his style and his reputation. Kai started bowling when he was little at Linden Lanes, where he spent a lot of time just learning the game and getting comfortable on the lanes. At first, bowling was something he did for fun, but as time went on it became clear he was really good at it. What made Kai stand out wasn’t just talent; it was how much effort he put in. He kept practicing even when no one was watching and focused on fixing small mistakes and getting better every time he bowled.
As the years went on, that work started to show. Kai improved quickly and earned a spot as one of the other top bowlers at Saint Joe’s. Being lefty gives him an edge, and his smooth, controlled shot makes him tough to compete against. In close matches or high-pressure moments, Kai stays calm and delivers when his team needs him most. Because of that, he became a leader on the team and someone others look up to. Beyond his individual success, Kai is also known as a great teammate. He supports others, stays focused, and leads by example. His dedication to the sport inspires younger SJ bowlers and shows what is possible with commitment and discipline.
Through years of practice, determination, and passion, Strothers has proven himself to be the top bowler at Saint Joseph High School. From Linden Lanes to leading Saint Joe’s continues to leave his mark on the sport. The strong bowler will continue his bowling career in college at Lawrence Tech.
