4th Grade--Mrs. Spadea

Students in grade 4 have a Spanish folder with all the handouts they had last year (also found on the handouts page). 4th grade has Spanish on Tuesdays for 55 minutes. Check back here weekly for what you can be reinforcing at home. There will also be a graded assignment for each marking period (not counting the summer work, twice per trimester), which will be found under assignments below.

Assignments

Due 9/19: Summer work is due the second Spanish class, for a prize! See the home page. 3 students did not do it yet.

Due 9/19: Please practice the new routines and vocabulary using these videos: https://www.educreations.com/lesson/view/rutinas-en-la-clase-de-espanol/44920522/?s=rveqA4&ref=app

Due 9/26: Most of the students were very unprepared this week with the videos practice. I am giving them one more chance to watch the videos (especially the first one) so that they will be ready to do the commands when I say one in Spanish. Students who are ready will move their clip up.

Due 10/10: First graded assignment, part 1: Bring written in English on a piece of paper one or more facts to answer 3 of the questions below about the Spanish-speaking country you were assigned. Write them simply, in your own words, using words we would know how to put in Spanish. (For example, instead of picking a fact such as "The population is 25,215" you could say "The country is small.") We will put the facts in Spanish together in class. You are welcome to bring in extra facts that interest you after you have simply answered 3 questions. Below is a list of the questions to choose from, and a list of who gets what country. We discussed what the questions mean; refer to your handouts if you need help:

  • ¿Dónde está el país? (Where is the country?)
  • ¿Cuál es la ciudad más grande? (Which is the biggest city?)
  • ¿Cómo es el país? (What is the country like?)
  • ¿Cómo es la cultura? (What is the culture like?)
  • ¿Qué comen en el país? (What do they eat in the country?)
  • ¿Qué tiempo hace? (What's the weather?)
  • ¿Adónde van los turistas? (Where do the tourists go?)
  • ¿Qué te gusta del país? (What do you like about the country?)

Due 11/28: Please watch the three videos below. One has a written part to hand in that goes with it. Be ready for a spelling quiz--I will spell a word, and you have to choose which one it is from the smartboard.

Watch this alphabet video song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prUdkvs0bSo

Watch this video and try writing the words in one column as the woman spells them. Then listen while she checks them, and use another color pencil or pen to write the words again, corrected, in a second column. You will turn this in! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6M6rYkEyyI

Then watch this video. After the man says each word, click on the video to pause it and try to spell the word aloud. Then click again to play the video and see if you were right. http://www.youtubecutter.com/watch/c4d94824/
