Connor Doig has been selected to play in the TRIO SA Junior Masters Tournament from 13 - 15 October 2023 in Cape Town.
This tournament is by invitation only to the top 8 ranked players in SA at the end of September, based on ranking points accumulated through the last year!
This will be Connor’s last tournament as a junior player as he will move into the senior ranks from January 2024.
The St Stithians tennis section was pleased to host current ITF world junior #180 player, Allan Gatoto from Burundi at our courts on Wednesday 4th October 2023. Allan was invited to the school for a practice session by Connor Doig (the past tennis captain, with a current ITF world junior ranking of #558). Connor and Allan have played each other twice this year in ITF competitions, with one win apiece. Both boys are currently preparing for tournaments, with Allan hoping to go across to Japan to play some ITF tournaments there; whilst Connor is going to play in the SA Junior Masters in Cape Town next weekend. Allan was accompanied by his coach Jeanna Schmidt, herself an extremely accomplished and highly ranked ex tennis player - and currently the head coach of the EPQ International Tennis Academy, based in Potchefstroom. It was wonderful to see the boys in action and we wish both Allan and Connor the best of luck over the coming months.
We would like to congratulate our Tennis Captain and number 1 player, Connor Doig, on reaching the finals of the J60 Gauteng North ITF tournament, which was played on Friday 16 June at the University of Pretoria. Connor, who was seeded number 5 for the tournament, played brilliant tennis all week, and en route to the finals, beat the number 1 seed Denzel Seetso in the quarter`s, and Rudiger Dusselberg, the current SA National champion, in the semi-finals. He played a fantastic final, and narrowly lost 3-6 5-7 to Gareth Igesund.
We are extremely proud of Connor on this amazing result, and wish him all the best in his next tournament.

We are proud to announce that our top 4 Under 16 tennis players, Jordan Georgiev, Connor Doig, Joshua Crowie and Moeketsi Mokete, won the Gauteng section of the BNP Paribas Rising stars tournament over the past weekend (11-12 September 2021).
During the Round Robin phase, St Stithians defeated Hoerskool Waterkloof, Arthur Ashe Tennis Academy and H and R Academy, thus reaching the semi-finals. St Stithians then went on to beat Tshela Thupa in order to reach the final.
Only the winners of the tournament qualify to play in the BNP Paribas Rising Stars National finals, so there was a lot at stake when we started our final clash against our neighbours, Hoerskool Randburg. Our team displayed grit, strength and resilience as we beat Hoerskool Randburg convincingly in the final.
We extremely proud of our players, whilst their sportsmanship during the tournament was of the highest standard. This wonderful performance bodes well for the future and culture of tennis at the Boys College. #SaintsExcellence
