This is the OLD Parent Hub.
MeLT is our 1:1 (One device, One student) integrated programme designed to combine the best digital learning and teaching with appropriate use of ICT in the classroom and for online instruction.
Boys’ College statement of intent for successful integration of technology
Successful integration of technology in learning and teaching to improve the learning outcomes for all boys. The curriculum is designed to encourage communication, collaboration, independent thought and personalised learning.
Each boy will have the opportunity to develop and demonstrate knowledge, skills, practices and attitudes to be engaged, successful lifelong learners in an ever-changing society and capable of positively shaping their future.
The purpose of Integration of technology is always to support learning and teaching and not just for the sake of using technology.
Mobile eLearning and Teaching bring the benefits of 1:1 computing to our classrooms as well as our online offering and assists us in teaching 21st-century skills such as problem-solving and creativity allowing us to customise learning for different learning styles. The personal device gives our students anywhere, anytime access as well as greater collaboration between teachers and other students, promoting the concept of creating lifelong learners. Because the students own the device, they generally take better care of the device.
In 2023, all grade 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 boys are expected to have a device for use across the curriculum.
Boys’ College expects all Grade 8 to 12 students to make use of an iPad, Windows tablet, Windows 10 or later laptop, Chromebook or Apple MacBook.
Android tablets are not recommended. A smartphone will not be allowed to be used in class.
