Creativity Resources
Creativity can be thought of as the colour that brings Curriculum for Excellence to life. The four core creativity skills run throughout the four capacities and are integral to the meta skills which are increasingly important in today’s workplace.
The World Economic Forum states that by 2025, the top five skills employers will be looking for include innovation, complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity and originality. Creativity is one of our most essential skills.
Here in Scotland we define creativity skills in a way that educators across all sectors can identify, value and discuss with learners:
Curiosity
Open-Mindedness
Imagination
Problem solving
Education Scotland have brought together a wide range of resources and information to develop creativity skills, creative teaching, creative learning, and creative change. These can be found here on the Education Scotland website: https://education.gov.scot/improvement/learning-resources/what-are-creativity-skills/
A selection of the resources can also be accessed via a Google folder by clicking below.

The Creativity Toolbox films will offer you new ways of looking at your priorities and challenges, and help you to generate original, innovative ideas.
They offer effective ways of brainstorming, asking good questions, and how to take staff, learners and communities beyond traditional responses, towards imaginative new possibilities.
The films can be used individually to support a single planning session, or collectively as part of a broader process.
They can also be used in conjunction with the Transforming Learning Approach which offers a structured process for planning for improvement.
