If a child at Cornton Primary school is having a difficult moment or is upset in a social interaction, the staff team know that reasoning with a child can only happen after two crucial interventions take place.
This follows Bruce Perry's The Three R's: Reaching the learning Brain.
First we help the child to REGULATE and calm their emotions
The staff take time to RELATE and connect with the child understanding how and why a situation arose
Thirdly we help the child reflect, learn and REASON and reinforce the school values.
