Dear Parents & Carers,
Our much-loved after-school offer, Safari Saver, is back for May and June at Blair Drummond Safari Park.
Join us on weekdays from 3pm to 5:30pm, from 5th May to 26th June, and enjoy the park at a great value price - adult tickets are just £7.50 and child tickets are only £5.50. As always, little ones under 3 go free. Members can bring in friends and family in this time slot for an even further reduced price.
It’s a brilliant way to spend a spring afternoon - plenty of space to run around, animals to spot, and fresh air to enjoy after the school day.
We’d love to see you there.
For full details and to book, visit our website: Safari Saver Deal.
Kind regards,
The Blair Drummond Team
BANNOCKBURN MUSIC HIVE – HILLPARK CENTRE (OPEN TO ALL IN STIRLING)
The Music Hive www.music-hive.uk will run every Wednesday until 10th June, after which there will be a break for the summer holidays and will return again in September.
Here’s what the weekly sessions will look like between now and 10th June:
Snack and games: 3.30pm – 4pm
Music Hive Choir with Jen (ages 9–18): 4pm – 5pm
Music Hive Band & Songwriting with Brian and Marco (ages 11–18): 4pm – 5.15pm
Fruit snack: 5pm – 5.30pm
Music Hive Samba with Rory and Liam (ages 9–18): 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Social Sounds (ages 14–18): 6.45pm – 7.45pm
We’re excited to continue giving the Choir and Songwriting groups opportunities to collaborate over the coming weeks.
If you have any friends that would like to join us, they are very welcome. They are welcome to join us on a Wednesday and can get in touch via this ymi@stirling.gov.uk
Snacks
We’ll be offering a light snack and juice from 3.30pm – 4pm — things like toast, waffles, or pancakes with spread. From 5pm – 5.30pm, we’ll switch to fruit and lighter snacks such as rice cakes or biscuits.
We’re making these changes because some young people come straight from school and haven’t eaten since lunchtime, and we also noticed that some were heading home quite full after the 5pm snack (sorry about that!). This new plan also helps us make sure we have enough staff available to support those staying on and to help others leave safely.
If there are Choir members who are also keen on band or songwriting as well, please let us know. We’d love to explore the possibility of arranging something for them after the summer.
Any questions at all please do get in touch with us by email or speak to any of the team on Wednesdays.
Kind Regards
Music Hive Team
Clare, Daniel, Marc, Jen, Brian, Marco, Liam and Rory.

FREE Music Workshops at the Tolbooth for children and young people aged 9 - 18
Thanks to funding from the Youth Music Initiative, Stirling Council Education in partnership with the Tolbooth are able to offer two FREE music opportunities for children and young people aged 9 - 18 on a Monday night at the Tolbooth Arts Venue in Stirling – Scottish Traditional Music Workshops and the Tolbooth Youth Jazz Ensemble – both open to beginners – advanced musicians. Leaflets are attached for both giving more information.
The workshops are held weekly at the Tolbooth (during term time only) and are delivered by professional performing musicians who are excellent and experienced tutors.
· For the Scottish Traditional Music workshops, we are open to complete beginners (violin, guitar, whistle), intermediate (any instrument), advanced (any instrument).
· For the Youth Jazz Ensemble, we need young musicians to have a minimum of 1 years’ experience of their instrument.
No previous experience of jazz or traditional music is needed to join.
The workshops offer the opportunity to play as part of small groups, rather than individual tuition. This creates a fantastic opportunity to meet other young musicians and to learn together in a fun, relaxed and social music environment. Previous members have gone on to study music and / or play music professionally / are working in the music industry. It’s possible to join anytime during the year.
If a young person you know is interested in taking part or you would like further information, please email Clare Hoare, Youth Learning Development Officer (Creativity and Culture) at ymi@stirling.gov.uk
