A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Kevin Zamborsky is in his twenty-second year of teaching at Stillwater High School. He teaches the high school Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, marching band, AP Music Theory, and Music Composition and Arranging, and seventh grade beginning band at the middle school. Mr. Zamborsky received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1997, and his Master's Degree in Conducting from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York in 2004. From 1997 to 2002, Mr. Zamborsky was the Director of Bands at Nottoway Middle and Intermediate Schools and the Associate Director of Bands at Nottoway High School in Nottoway, Virginia. Groups under his direction have received numerous Superior ratings, and have performed in Missouri, Georgia, Indiana, Florida, Washington, D.C., New York, and Paris, France. Under Mr. Zamborsky's direction, the Stillwater High School Wind Ensemble has been selected to perform as an honor band at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association state convention in 2007, 2010, 2013, 2019, and 2024. In 2007 and again in 2022, the Wind Ensemble performed under Mr. Zamborsky at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Mr. Zamborsky works as a conductor at the University of Arkansas Summer Music Camp. Mr. Zamborsky was recognized as an Exemplary Teacher by the Oklahoma Music Educators Association in 2021. He was the Oklahoma Arts Alliance and State Superintendent Music Educator of the Year in 2014, the Stillwater High School Teacher of the Year in 2013, the Nottoway Middle School and Nottoway County Teacher of the Year in 2000, and was the Florida Keys Council of the Arts Artist-in-Residence in 2003. Mr. Zamborsky is a former president of the Beta (Oklahoma) chapter of Phi Beta Mu and current Member At Large, and is currently the President-Elect for the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association. Professional memberships include the National Association for Music Education, Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Oklahoma Bandmasters Association, Phi Beta Mu, Phi Mu Alpha, and the North Central Directors Association. Mr. Zamborsky lives in Stillwater with his wife, Lindy. Their son, Connor, is a computer science major at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and their daughter, Emma, is an arts administration major at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
Sean Gartner recently completed his tenth year of teaching and is excited to begin his eleventh year as an assistant band director for Stillwater Public Schools. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education in 2013 from Oklahoma State University and his Master’s degree in Music with an emphasis in Wind Band Conducting from Oklahoma State University in 2015. Prior to working in Stillwater, Mr. Gartner was an Assistant Band Director at Yukon Public Schools from 2015-2017 and has been the Director of Bands at Pawnee Public Schools since 2017. While at Yukon and Pawnee, his ensembles and students earned superior ratings at concert festivals as well as OSSAA Large Ensemble and Solo contests. Mr. Gartner teaches private trumpet and piano lessons, with his students earning consistent placements in various honor bands and earning superior ratings at OSSAA and OMTA sanctioned events. In addition to teaching, Mr. Gartner has played piano for the past twenty-eight years and has served as a piano accompanist for many solo contests and competitions for eighteen years. Other accomplishments include Teacher of the Year at Pawnee High School for 2021, 2023, 2024 and at Pawnee Middle School for 2023 and 2024. Professional memberships include the National Association for Music Education, Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Music Teachers National Association, and Oklahoma Music Teachers Association. Mr. Gartner lives in Stillwater with his wife Anna, their daughter Joanna, and their cavoodle, Poppins.
Tricia Bailey-Bovenschen is in her thirty-fourth year of teaching and twenty-eighth year as an assistant band director for Stillwater Public Schools. Prior to teaching in Stillwater, Ms. Bovenschen was a band director in Ponca City and Sapulpa. She received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Oklahoma State University in 1992. Ms. Bovenschen assists with the 7th grade band, 8th grade band, high school band, beginning trombone, and teaches beginning percussion and 7th grade percussion. Her bands and percussion ensembles receive consistent superior ratings at OSSAA sanctioned contests. Other notable accomplishments include past performances of her percussion ensembles at the OkMEA and Oklahoma PAS conventions. Ms. Bovenschen was the 1998 Phi Beta Mu Outstanding Young Bandmaster of they Year, and in 2023 was recognized by OkMEA as an Exemplary Teacher. She has held memberships in the National Association for Music Education, Oklahoma Music Educators Association, the Percussive Arts Society, the North Central Directors Association, Phi Beta Mu, Tau Beta Sigma, and Sigma Alpha Iota. Ms. Bovenschen lives in Stillwater and actively performs as a member of the Stillwater Community Band and volunteers with Town & Gown Theatre. She is a proud mom to Bailey (graduate student in Vocal Performance in the Greenwood School of Music at Oklahoma State University), and twin sons Brendan and Collin (juniors in computer and electrical engineering at Oklahoma State University).
Megan Perkins is in her fourteenth year of teaching and eleventh year as an assistant band director for Stillwater Public Schools. She received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma in 2011 and a Master's degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri in 2023. Ms. Perkins conducts the 8th grade band, teaches beginning clarinet, double reeds, and saxophones. She also assists with the seventh grade and high school bands. Her bands consistently receive the OSSAA Outstanding Achievement Award at concert contest. Her 8th grade band has attended the North Texas Festival of Distinction in North Richland Hills, Texas since 2022 where they compete against over 100 other junior high bands, receiving straight superior ratings each year. Her 8th grade band was selected as an OkMEA Honor Band in 2017, 2020, and 2025. Ms. Perkins teaches private clarinet lessons and has had numerous students selected to All-Region and All-State Bands. She is a conductor at the University of Arkansas Summer Music Camp each summer and has guest conducted numerous honor bands, such as ECOBDA, Cimmaron Valley, NBDA, and CODA. She was the 2016-2017 OkMEA Young Music Educator of the Year and was also awarded the Phi Beta Mu Outstanding Young Bandmaster Award in 2017. She is an active clinician and presenter throughout Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas, including a presentation given at The Midwest Clinic in 2022. Ms. Perkins holds National Board certification in secondary music, is the Secretary of the Beta Chapter of Phi Beta Mu, and is a member of NAfME and North Central Director’s Association.
Katie Genevro is in her twelfth year of teaching and third year as the Assistant Director of Bands for Stillwater Public Schools. Her prior teaching experience spans the educational spectrum from elementary school to college, including music theory, general music, and band. At Stillwater Middle School, Mrs. Genevro teaches the 7th Grade Blue Band and beginning flute, clarinet, trumpet, horn, and color woodwind classes. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas and a master's degree of Music in Wind Conducting from Messiah University. In addition to teaching, she has presented professional development sessions for the El Paso Independent School District and for Texas Bandmasters Association, and conducted the Yselta Honor Band. Mrs. Genevro was teacher of the year at Charles Middle School for the 2020-21 school year and a finalist for the secondary teacher of the year for the EPISD School District. She is a member of the National Association for Music Education and North Central Directors Association. Mrs. Genevro lives in Stillwater with her husband, Brad, and four children, A.J., Sophia, Isabella, and Gabriel.
Darin Williams is beginning their twenty-second year of marching arts instruction, including five years as Color Guard Director for Stillwater. Prior to joining Stillwater, Darin has worked with a number of regional and national ensembles, including Black Gold Winter Guard, Rhapsody Winter Guard, Madison Scouts, Seattle Cascades, and Boston Crusaders, in addition to several Oklahoma high schools. These experiences have garnered them a number of distinctions, including multiple caption awards, four Winter Guard and Percussion of Oklahoma class championships, as well as being named the 2010 Winter Guard and Percussion of Oklahoma Director of the Year. Darin received their Bachelor's of Science degree in elementary education from The University of Oklahoma and a Master's of Arts in Educational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University. They served as a classroom teacher for a number of years and were recognized by Edmond Public Schools as a site Teacher of the Year and District Teacher of the Year finalist in 2013. They share their life in Oklahoma City with their partner, Tai, and their five fur babies (Rocker, JJ, Dexter, Gossip, and Drama).
Lee Allman, Front Ensemble Arranger: Lee is in his third year working with the SHS Marching Band. He is the director of percussion at Avon High School in Indiana.
Mitchell Rogers, Drill Writer: Mitch is in his second year working with the SHS Marching Band. Mitch has worked on the visual staff of The Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard, The Bluecoats, and the Troopers. He works with groups throughout the United States, as well as groups from Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.
