Class Announcements

FREE TUTORING: FREE Math Tutoring and Homework Help is now available every Monday and Wednesday after school from 4pm to 5pm in Mr. Mach's room (106) beginning after spring break. Math teachers will be available to provide tutoring, help with homework, re-teach concepts, and answer questions. Come for the whole hour or for just a few minutes to get what you need.

8th Grade Math - Spring 2021 - Stillwater Junior High School

Dear Fabulous Parents & Beloved Students,

I cannot thank you enough for your patience, understanding, and grace offered to us teachers, and the never ending support you provided to our students and their learning during these unprecedented times! Based on feedback from our first semester, the math team is making some positive changes in an effort to increase student learning and access to helpful resources. We will be implementing a Flipped-Classroom procedure this semester, meaning students will watch the teachers’ pre-recorded instructional video for the new lessons and complete a few practice problems BEFORE coming to the live Google Meets each week. This will allow for us to utilize live meet time for students to complete their homework assignments with teacher support, students will be able to ask questions, receive immediate help / feedback from their math teacher, reteaching / remediation / extension as appropriate, and to increase the human interactions between classmates and teachers during our math live meets.

Here are a few additional reminders for our second semester:

• Students will be provided detailed instructions and directions for each week in the Stream section of our Math Google Classroom. Our videos, homework assignments, and resources are organized in the Classwork section of our Math Google Classroom by week/date. Please encourage your child to check both places each week, and read the agenda that is posted.

• On Friday’s we will continue to offer Extra Help Sessions from 12:40pm to 1:50pm. Here is the link for your child to join the Google Meet. Please encourage them to attend if they need extra help. We are here for them! https://meet.google.com/vrg-hrhr-ysx

• I have Office Hours on Wednesday evenings during Red weeks from 7pm to 9pm. If you would like to meet with me or if your child would like some additional one-on-one math help please have them email me so that I know they are coming, and can send them a link to join via Google Meet.

• In an effort to increase communication between myself and our wonderful families to help prevent students from falling behind, I will be sending bi-weekly missing work / update emails this semester to all parents / students via Campus. You can check your child’s grade / missing assignments in all classes on the Parent / Student Portal of Infinite Campus. https://www.stillwaterschools.com/District/Portal
