Whether you want to go to community college, a university, beauty school, or trade school, scholarships are always helpful! Who doesn't want free money? The difference between a scholarship and a loan is that you have to pay a loan back, a scholarship is simply money given to you.
GearUp stands for Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. This program conducts outreach and offers college readiness resources to all of of Oregon's low-income serving middle and high schools. We are lucky to have this program at our school with Mrs. Edwards!

About Ms. Katie
I grew up in Clatskanie, OR and had no idea what I wanted to do after high school. I applied to Clatsop Community College with zero plans. There I got my Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) and transferred to Oregon State University. Where I earned two Bachelors degrees, one in Public Health & the other in Education. I was a teacher for 3 years before coming to St Helens High School in 2023 as the College & Career Counselor.
Three Random Facts About Me:
1.) I have a Corgi/Australian Shepherd named Merle & he is my whole heart.
2.) I love potatoes in all forms.
3.) Parks & Rec and New Girl are the best shows, hands down.
