Oregon GEAR UP - which stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs - is supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and the contributions of many community partners. We work with middle and high schools over seven years to create a college-going culture by providing funding and technical assistance, professional development for educators, and summer opportunities for students.
The goal of the GEAR UP program is to ensure that Oregon's low-income middle school and high school students are prepared for, pursue, and succeed in postsecondary education whether that be a Bachelor's degree, Associates degree, certificate, apprenticeship or other training.
About Mrs. Edwards
I grew up in Klamath Falls, OR and graduated from Mazama High School. During high school, I really got into graphic design and thought that's what I would study in college; I only applied to one. I was accepted into the Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree program at Southern Oregon University and completed my Bachelors degree in 3 years. I graduated with my BS degree in Marketing and a minor in Economics. From there I went to work for a bank for a number of years. After taking a few years off when I had my three kids, I started working in education. First as a duty aid and then at Plymouth High school before I joined the college & career team with GEAR Up.
Three Random Facts About Me:
1.) I love to travel, but I've never had a passport; it's on my list of things to do.
2.) I love pistachio flavored foods.
3.) I bake fancy cakes for my kids birthdays.
