Applying to Public and Private University in Spain
Year 12 and Year 13 : Finish Secondary Education by completing 2 years of the IB Diploma (Equivalent to Spanish Bachillerato which is Spain's pre-university education).
February Year 13 : Students with support from school request recognition (Credencial UNED) of IB Diploma in Spain via UNEDassis website. This application is conducted by the student via the UNEDassis website but supported at school by the Future Pathways Department.
6th of July Year 13: IB results are released and Recognition/Credencial UNED is published to students. Students have a short timeframe to carry out their pre-inscription to Spanish public universities.
Admission is based on cut-off scores (nota de corte), which vary by university and degree programme. Resources updated yearly as data changes depending on cohort performance.
The total score is out of 14 points. 10 marks come from IB conversion and 4 marks can be added by asking for the recognition of 2 core subjects via UNEDassis. These subjects vary depending on academic pathway.
15th of July: Spanish public places are confirmed
Applying to Private University in Spain
Same procedure applies as indicated above.
Private universities require Credencial UNED however applications take place from September until February in Year 13 and students need to check specific requirements/entrance exams.
Offers are made before IB results are released and places confirmed once IB results are issued and Credencial UNED is published.
Some suggestions are provided here however, this is by no means an exhaustive list and there are others available. These however do represent many of the destinations our students attend in Spain.
