StFX Brings Determination and Drive to DECA Regionals at Brock

On November 9th, hundreds of ambitious high school students descended upon Brock University to participate in the 47th annual DECA Regional Competition. This is the one time a year when all business-minded students of the region come together for a competition centered around marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, and hospitality.

All day long, students, dressed to the nines and in professional attire, presented real-world solutions to judges asking them real-world problems. It's always a blend of nerves and excitement for each competitor as they collaboratively try to put their classroom knowledge to the test. Many students also took time to network and meet DECA representatives and other students from different schools. The event was an excellent professional engagement all around.

Interestingly, unlike prior years, there was no awards ceremony at Regionals. Students are waiting until Wednesday, Nov. 12, for the results to be posted to see who advances to DECA Provincials in Toronto.

This year, StFX is proud to celebrate its DECA Provincials qualifiers: Isaac Ng, Inaya Faraz, Bilal Irfan, Nicholas Ogaro, Abdulhadi Ahmed, Hania Sagarwala, Zoya Shaikh, Aaila Qayum, Ivana Okpakovwodo, and Saadia Ahmed. Representing StFX in the team category are Sadia Asim and Kauther Haque.

However, with the results now announced, this was an experience at DECA Regionals at Brock that they will never forget. DECA competitions help to bolster confidence, improve communication skills, and get students one step closer to becoming the business moguls they aspire to be.
