What is Intervention?

Intervention should not sound scary. Everyone struggles at different times. Here at St. Francis we believe in prevention and by helping students in and outside of the classroom as early as possible.

Ms. Ferrari screens all kindergarten through fifth grade students three times a year using the Dibels screener. The hyperlink will give you more information on the Dibels program. This along with the Dibels screener, NWEA Map Growth scores, in classroom assessments, and teacher observations skills are identified which each child needs extra help to grow academically.

Reading intervention is a targeted approach to instruction that provides additional support to students struggling with reading. Not everyone learns to read at the same rate and no teacher wants to see a student struggle. Intervention is a way to help students with extra practice to gain skills to become proficient readers.
