Graded Work

Grades from the week will be posted on RenWeb no later than 5 school days from date of completion. Students' graded work will be passed back weekly on Fridays in their Trojan Folders. Please check your child's Trojan Folder each weekend and return it to school empty on Monday mornings.

Chromebooks

Each student will have their own Chromebook to use in the classroom. It is expected that students use their Chromebooks for school work only, and that they treat the devices with the same care and respect with which they treat their other academic materials. 

Google Classroom/Online Materials

We use Google Classroom to post materials, notes, and assign quizzes. It is our hope to use Google Classroom, iXL & Aleks for Cyber Days. 

Missing Work/Late Work

• One day late - 11% off

• Two days late - 20 % off

• Three days late - 30% off

• Four days late - 40% off

• No late work is accepted after five days.

Academic Dishonesty

In addition to notifying school administration, the following approach will be taken for cheating, plagiarism, and unauthorized copying for daily/classwork, projects, tests, final papers, and assessments for students in grades 3-8:

• 1st Offense - Redo the assignment, Automatic 25% reduction, Student Work Detail, parents notified

• 2nd Offense - Redo the assignment, Automatic 50% reduction, Student Detention, parents notified

• 3rd Offense - Automatic 0%, Student Suspension, parents notified

• 4th Offense - Required withdrawal from school

Absences

Parents/Guardians are required to complete the SFdSCCS Student Excuse Verification Google Form when a student is absent, tardy, or dismissed in order for it to be considered an excused absence. Phone calls to the office will not count as a student's excused absence, tardy, or early dismissal. A student coming to school late must report to the office before he/she is admitted to class. Students who arrive at school after 11:00 AM are considered absent for a half day and may not participate in secondary school athletics events (unless a physician’s note allows for their participation).

Make-Up Work - Illness

• Homework Policy due to Illness: If a student is absent they may receive their assignments when they return to school. If a student is absent for more than one day, a parent may call the school office by 2:00 pm to arrange for homework assignments to be ready for pickup the following day or given to the student upon return. Additionally, students may check Google Classroom / Teacher Websites for daily assignments. For absences less than five (5) consecutive days, students are allotted the number of sick days absent to turn in missing assignments that were assigned during their absence. For absences beyond five (5) consecutive days, arrangements must be made with the child’s teacher(s) to create a schedule to complete any missed assignments and/or assessments. To ensure academic integrity, assessments will not be provided nor taken during a student absence. Upon return, scheduled assessments (quizzes, tests, projects) will be delayed one school day unless a student is prepared to take the assessment on that day.

• School Cancellations: Students are expected to have their completed assignments upon returning to school. There are no extensions granted for distance learning assignments unless communication has taken place between student (or parent) and teacher. In the event that a student does not have reasonable access to the internet during a snow day, teachers will make other efforts to provide the class work for the student.

Make-Up Work - Travel

• Homework during Vacations/Planned Absences: Parents are encouraged to schedule trips or family outings during long weekends and holiday times to eliminate the need to interrupt a child’s learning process. Teachers will make a reasonable effort to accomodate families by providing student work to students prior to the planned absence, understanding that not all assignments may be given in advance due to the pace of instruction during the absence. In addition to student work that is provided, students may check Google Classroom / Teacher Websites for daily assignments to help keep up with their work while they are away. For absences less than five (5) consecutive days, students are allotted the number of days absent to turn in missing assignments that were assigned during their absence. For absences of five (5) consecutive days or more, arrangements must be made with the child’s teacher(s) to create a schedule to complete any missed assignments and/or assessments. To ensure academic integrity, assessments will not be provided nor taken during a student absence.  Upon return, scheduled assessments (quizzes, tests, projects) will be delayed one school day unless a student is prepared to take the assessment on that day.

Snacks

Students may enjoy a working snack between arrival and prayer (8:45 a.m.). Students may bring in a nutritious snack daily. Reusable water bottles are permitted, and may be refilled at the water fountain. Beverages other than water, candy, and gum are prohibited.

Birthdays

If you wish to send in a snack for the class to enjoy on your child's birthday, we request that it is pre-packaged and peanut-free with nutritious guidelines to ensure safety for students with allergies and other health issues. We ask to provide enough of the snack for both 4th-grade homerooms (37 students). Birthday treats are served at lunch.

Invitations

Invitations passed out at school must be distributed to students in both homerooms.

Toys/Devices

Fidgets, toys, devices, or other activities are not permitted during the school day. If students bring items from home for use during Keepers, they must be kept in their backpacks and not brought out during the school day.
