Welcome to your MATH, RELIGION, and SCIENCE homepage! Here you will find an overview of what you can look forward to for the week. You can also find a detailed description of each class, including all parts of the classes, how each part will be graded, etc.
SPIRAL REVIEWS: Spiral Reviews will be done each week. Monday through Thursday will consist of 5 spiral review problems each day. Students will be able to use their notebooks and ask the teacher any questions they have on these problems. On Friday, I will give a quiz on problems taken from the spiral review pages. No notes will be permitted during this quiz. The spiral review paper will be left at school but taken home on Thursdays to review. Spiral Review will count as a classwork grade in the grade book, while the quizzes will count as a quiz grade in the grade book.
NOTES: Students will take notes daily in their math notebooks. This notebook will serve as a student-created mini-textbook and resource for students to reference throughout the year, especially with spiral reviews. The notes are interactive and will include vocabulary words, example problems, and problem-solving steps. This will be in the form of glue-in anchor chart notes and simple note-taking. Note-taking is essential for class participation. Random notebook checks will occur throughout the year. These checks will be toward classwork grades.
QUIZZES: Quizzes will be spiral review quizzes. Spiral Quizzes cover all learned and current skills. Students can expect a Spiral quiz each Friday. The spiral quiz will only consist of 5 random problems from the week's Spiral.
HOMEWORK: Math homework will appear as pages from their textbook and other teacher-made activities.. Math homework will be consistent every night but not overbearing. It is expected that homework be returned every day for review. Homework will be checked at the beginning of class for completion. As a class, we will review the homework problems. At this time, students can correct their wrong answers and earn the full amount of points. If they fail to fix the answers, they will miss points from their weekly homework grade. Homework grades will be taken out of 100. For example, if 1 problem is missed and not corrected, a student’s grade will appear as 95% in the grade book.
TESTS - Test dates will depend on the content of the unit. We take a test after each unit. Tests will vary; I will post a test date to the website at the beginning of the week. I will also remind students daily to write it in their assignment book. There will be a study guide to review for a couple of nights to be prepared.
ALEKS MATH: This is an additional resource for students. Students will be assigned homework. Students are expected to complete the assigned Homework Questions. This is an assignment that is graded on completion. Students will not receive credit for incomplete homework.. Because this is a week-long assignment, it cannot be made up. Students have from Monday to Sunday night to complete the homework questions. Alek's homework questions & nightly homework pages are combined for a weekly homework grade.
HOMEWORK: Sometimes, during the Seasons in the Church, students will be assigned a reflection. This reflection will be through Google Classroom. Students will be expected to have Complete and thoughtful responses to earn full credit. Other homework in Religion will only be given if activities are not completed in class.
CLASSWORK: Students will receive a grade for their participation during class and discussions that pertain to the material being studied. Pages within the chapter will also count as Classwork grades due to highlighting terms.
QUIZZES: Students will be quizzed on prayers throughout the year.. These quizzes will typically be given on Wednesdays of each week. They will be announced at least one week in advance. These are not open-book. A word bank will be provided on the Quiz. Students are given a packet of prayers for the entire year. This packet is also located at the bottom of this page and on Google Classroom.
TESTS: Tests in Religion will be open-book. Students will highlight skills to use.
CLASS WORK: Vocabulary & daily notes are kept in science composition books. Weekly Notes & Vocabulary will be posted on Google Classroom.
HOMEWORK - Vocabulary & Notes usually begin on Tuesday & are to be completed on Thursday unless a change is made. Vocabulary & Notes are kept & checked weekly in the Science Composition Book
QUIZZES: Students will be given a quiz based on the vocabulary words studied within a chapter. Students can expect to have a vocabulary quiz about every other week. I will announce the vocabulary quiz days in advance. The format of these quizzes will be filling in blanks within a sentence using the vocabulary words from a word bank. Quizzes will be taken on Google Forms. Quizzes are open-book and won't be given on the same week as a test. Results of quizzes will be sent to students' email addresses.
LABS: are usually on Mondays
