12:40 pm Show n’ Tell: Several different radios (FRS, GMRS, and Amateur) will be out for display. We’ll discuss radio’s brief history and review - (Handout #2), “Listen, listen, Listen.”
1:15 pm Introducing the Baofeng UV5R Dual-band Handy Talky. With the radio in your hands, let’s review all the major buttons and their functions, step through the programming menu, maintenance and care, etc. - (Hand-out #1)
1:40 pm Break
2:00 pm Mountainous areas are challenging in many ways. What this radio WILL and will NOT do. Understanding Line of sight. Overcoming some challenges.
2:30 pm Bit n Pieces, Noise, Etiquette - (Hand-out #3)
3:00 pm Review the channels programmed in your radio - (Hand-out #4) and Interesting Frequencies - (Hand-out #5)

3:45 pm Breakout Sessions:
Option A: Let’s get on the air. Select various channels to talk on. Talk to folks on a repeater. We may send someone to drive some distance away to hear the difference in transmission.
Option B: Breakout to the FCC Website station and start the license application. You’ll need access to your phone and your email. The application fee is $35 (if needed, our non-profit will cover).
4:00 pm Wrap-up, Open discussions, Where we go from here, etc.
